The Berry Islands

A treasure chest of gems, 30 islands and close to 100 cays, in fact, glistening as if jewels under the warmth of the Bahamian sun. This chain of cays and islands are surrounded by the most beautiful aquamarine waters, which are so rich, it's as if someone poured extra color to enhance it. Really, it's not hype, these little cays have drawn sailors and yachtsmen to linger just southeast of the Biminis.
These largely uninhabited islands offer more than just spectacular views, it is known for diving and snorkeling and championship sportsfishing, second only to the Biminis. Sports fishermen and anglers have caught record setting game like mackerel, blue and white marlin and sailfish.
While bonefish, crawfish and conch are plentiful, there are only 730 people among the cays. Great Harbour Cay, and its native settlement Bullocks Harbour is where the majority of that number lives. Many of the cays are privately owned, and have been developed by foreign investors. Whale Cay, Fraser's Cay, Hog Cay and Bonds Cay, are among them.
The cays are highly sought as a vacation retreat. Chub Cay is known as the Billfish Capital of The Bahamas and is home to exclusive yacht clubs. Great Harbour Cay now has a large population of second home residents.
